Capture

Grab video from camcorders, PC cameras, TV tuners and VCRs. VideoStudio automatically detects what type of video you're capturing, saving you time getting it into your computer.

VideoStudio supports the newest formats from Microsoft and Sony. Capture, edit, and save Windows Media files (WMF, WMV, WMA) from capture cards and DV camcorders. MICROMV capture, edit, and save support lets users take advantage of the latest Sony camcorders.

Capture video directly from analog and DV sources as DVD-ready MPEG video, reduce hard drive requirements and minimize long transcode times when authoring DVDs and Video CDs.

Batch Capture: Select only the segments you want to record from your DV camcorder into your computer and let VideoStudio automate the entire capture process at the same time.

Scene Detection: VideoStudio knows when you turned your camera on and off by reading the time code of footage on the camcorder. You will automatically import the video as separate, easy-to-manage clips and ready to assemble on the video timeline.

Edit

Have fun editing. Trim and organize your video clips, then add a soundtrack and voice narration. Include titles and add special effects you pick from from over 190 customizable transitions and filters.

InstaView™ Real-time Preview and Output: VideoStudio 7's powerful InstaView™ technology allows computers with Pentium 4 1.4 GHz processors and above to view changes instantly, without rendering.

New MultiCut™ Editing using Extract Video: Save processing time by selecting multiple video segments from a single clip to delete (like commercials) or keep. VideoStudio will process your selections at the same time.

Three Editing Views: Choose from three convenient ways to view your project. Use Storyboard for simple editing. The Expanded Storyboard lets you use the entire screen for drag-and-drop editing of projects containing many video clips. Use the frame-accurate Timeline to extend titles, overlays and music over multiple video clips.

New Content-Based Scene Detection: VideoStudio cuts your video into easy-to-manage clips based on lighting or scenery changes and are conveniently placed in the timeline for editing. All you need to do is add your own personal touch.

New Video Filters and Effects: Add creative flair to projects with five new video filters: Old Film, Lightning, Lens Flare, Comic and Bubble. New Slow/Fast Motion effects allow you to slow clips down to as little as 10% or speed them up to as high as 1000%.

New Title Animation Effects: Make titles come alive with new Pop Up and Turn animation effects. Customize every title movement and the look and feel of your text to suit your own style.

Overlay Effects: Place video, pictures or COOL 3D projects right over your video using the Overlay track. Create picture-in-picture effects, transparency blends and motion video boxes for impressive compositions.

Share

VideoStudio lets you share videos with family and friends on VHS tape, streaming Web media, DVD, VCD, or SVCD. In the Share step, simply choose your options and VideoStudio will output the best format that's right for you.

Streaming Video Output: Create video to stream over the Web or email using the popular Windows Media®, QuickTime® or RealVideo® formats.

Video E-mail: Automatically attach videos to e-mails from within VideoStudio 7. Send easy-to-open Video Greeting Cards (.exe files) to family and friends.

Instant Output: Send video directly to DV camcorders through FireWire without having to create a final movie file using InstantPlay™

DVD

Into sharing on disc? VideoStudio has you covered. You can burn your videos to CD or DVD and play them on you DVD player. Create your own unique DVD videos, complete with intros, chapters, and interactive menus.

DVD Creation Without Pre-Rendering: Send projects to the DVD wizard directly from VideoStudio's timeline without going through a time-consuming rendering process first.

Burning Hardware Support: VideoStudio burning drivers support DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, and combo drives for making DVD discs as well as CD-R/RW drives for making Video CDs.
