Merging 2 movies into 1

Hello, last year I went to the e3 expo and I saw a demonstration that was really cool. They showed a guy running down a street by himself. Then they showed that same scene but right after he came down the street, a dinosaur ran down that street too. What software allows you to do that? Thanks in advance!
