About Video Editing > Book Reviews Digital Video for Dummies
Like other Dummies books, Digital Video for Dummies is straightforward and down-to-the-earth. It's a great guide to digital video production and one of the best-organized books in the Dummies series. This book is divided into two main parts. Part one is about general hints and tips when filming with a camcorder explaining how to script scenes, frame shots, capture sound, talk to actors, and apply makeup. Part two of the book is about digital video editing with Adobe Premiere, and adding effects with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. For beginners, it is really a good starting point with simple, clear explanations on almost everything. But the information given on actual editing is, kind of, too general to truly master the software and techniques. This is the character of all the Dummies books. You can easily get into digital video editing with this guide book. When you become more serious, you have to read other materials.
